some say it's the hardest thing they ever did - but also the most rewarding!

meditating before the ascend, marangu porters preparing, marangu rainforests area around moshi the machame gate, the start of our kilimanjaro trecking ready to start @ the machame gate the first day of the ascend we walked through rainforest, not seeing anything of the mountain at the end of the first day's leg the vegetation starts to change arriving at the first camp (machame, 3'000m asml), mt. kilimanjaro still faaaar away dinner in our luxury tent on the way to the second camp with josef, one of our guides a weather-change like this can come within 5 minutes on this mountain! ...and the weather wasn't always nice! evening at the second camp (shira, 3'800m amsl) our third day's leg lunar landscape on our third day's leg view from the third camp (barranco, 3'950m amsl) view from the third camp (barranco, 3'950m amsl) cool trees on the way with our two guides, gaudenz & josef arriving at the fourth camp (karanga, 4'000m amsl) view down to the tanzanian plains from karanga camp getting closer to the top... view over to mewenzi arriving at the top with the first sunlight after a horrible night (5'895m amsl) what a feeling!! the amazing glaciers on the top the amazing glaciers on the top the amazing glaciers on the top mawenzi in the distance arriving back at the barafu camp 8 hard(!) hours after we left (4'600m amsl) mawenzi peek back in the rainforest where we came from... on the way back to marangu party with our crew party with our crew the kilimanjaro team party with our crew party with our crew party with our crew party with our crew
