sapa, close to the chinese border, is an atmospheric old hill station set amid stunning scenes of near vertical rice terraces and towering peaks.

night train up to lao cai, with ruben from holland singing caraoke in the night train fossi trying to save our honor view from our hotel balcony, sapa hill tribe women on the way to the local market, sapa rice field terrace, cat cat black h'mong women making traditional cloth having a baby at the age of 14 - normal for vietnams hill-tribe people around cat cat village strange monkey, around cat cat village h'mong smoking pot smoking too - strong stuff! black h'mong girls, cat cat mountain pass motorbike tour our old russian minsk bikes, designed in the late fifties! the old russion bike, built like a brick bog, able to withstand even a direct hit from a buffalo. although i’ve never tested this theory... waterfall around the sapa mountains view from one of the mountain pass around sapa our minsk bikes in action typical vietnamese supply: soup & beer meeting vania and here friend from japan again rice fields on the hike to lao chai posing with vania from brazil crazy vania, fossi and me joking around lots of black h'mong kids trying hard to sell black h'mong kid rice field terraces on the hike to lao chai village fossi and me on the walk to lao chai village around lao chai village around lao chai village h'mong kid, lao chai village h'mong kids, lao chai lao chai kids enjoying vania's curly hair h'mong girl looking suspicious lao chai women in traditional cloth h'mong girls joking around trying out some h'mong headgear the h'mong having fun with us one last group pic with vania and off we go lao chai in the background having another smoke on the way to ta van fossi taking a deep breath rice field cultivation at it's best preparing for the ride from sapa to lao cai arrving in lao cai - what a great ride! checking out different vietnam beers... bia ha noi top, lao cai flop having fun in the night train back to hanoi fossi going for a captain's toast going for the most stupid pose... our canadian friend trying to copy... marek from polen & chang from sapa no comment...
